Let’s be clear here. Every generation has some twisted minds that somehow convince someone in the media to allow them to create cartoons which inattentive parents show to their kids. Ren and Stimpy was just one example which was really inappropriate for little kids, but was warped enough to be a big hit with college students.

The same people created Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, and Doug, believe it or not — all at the same time. Nick was starting to falter and needed a boost.
If I recall an interview with the producer, she said those three would basically cover all the bases of taste, from silly to edgy to mainstream.
I never really liked any of them, even though I did name my cat Stimpy (who then lived so long, most kids working at vet clinics would ask us to spell it because they had never heard the name before)

What if I told you, generations don’t exist.
